A singer and songwriter of Electronic Music, she was born in Brazil and she's been crossing cultural borders bringing her Pop Electronic Music into the world's map. The Kraken had her second song signed by Universal Music and featured in Hit Mania 2016 Album along with big names such as Hardwell, Avicii, Lost Frequencies, Dimitri Vegas and Like Mike and many others. She's now with her new releases signed by Warner Chappell Brazil, with half million views on Youtube and with more than 600.000 plays on Spotify. We want to know everything! 01 - Let's start with the real beginning, as you are a singer and songwriter my first question is why Electronic Music Kraken? " I know it's sound's confusing right? Since I'm not a Dj... Well, for me, music is frequency and also a very powerful way of communication, the way my mind talks with my heart. So I was writing songs and I was already working in the studio, studying everything I could about music. And one day I heard a very famous House Music track called "Fade Into Darkness" by Avicii. I was amazed and started to search and study everything about Electronic Music because I loved the way this music genre was so focused on making people feel good, loved and not alone. It had everything to do with my first goal with music, changing people's energy and making them feel good. " 02 - I Got you Kraken! You are right, Electronic Music is very powerful and your background is full of those references, tell me more about it before we get into the new releases! " Yes! It's funny because now I'm having new fans, coming from hearing and seeing the videos of the new releases, until that point was ok but some of them are really digging into my previous songs... They want to talk about "Light Up" or " Lucky " or "Release Me". I always say that each song has their own story and thought they are connecting pretty well at this moment, looking back when I made these songs It was about connecting crowds of people, with the strong beat, calculated rhythm, to support my lyrics that would make people feel better by not being alone, feeling good as they are and proud of themselves despite their problems, in that moment everything would be ok. I can even say I still hear them when I need " 03 - As you are the songwriter of your own songs my question is: why in English? " I don't know (laughs), the truth is since I started writing songs I wrote them in English, I expressed myself well and I just kept doing that. I learned English and Spanish by myself but my country's language is Portuguese, and writing songs in English was a huge problem at the beginning because the record labels in Brazil didn't accept songs that were not in Portuguese. I heard several times - Why don't you write in Portuguese?! It would be easier! - But now what I do and the way I do it is what stands out. First I want to know about "You and I" with half a million views on Youtube, what the idea behind it? " You and I is a very special song for me because it was my second step towards what I wanted to do now. I was back from my first business trip, where I spent 3 months recording, writing and having meetings with different producers, rappers and DJs between Europe and USA. My song "Pirate Of Samba" was signed by Universal Music and featured on Hit Mania along with big names such as Hardwell, Avicii, Jason Derulo... And I needed to figure out what I wanted to do. I was already into Pop Electronic, so as soon as I heard that sample I wrote and recorded the lyric at the same time in the studio. It was clear to me, I wanted something that could touch people's heart but at the same time could be funny and soft. (laughs)" - So why the "I Die" on the lyrics of "You and I"? " (Laughs) The song tells the story about a person that falls in love but couldn't see that coming, and get's surprised at how strong is the feeling, so "I Die" is a tricky verse, it doesn't really mean dying. In Brazil, young people say "I'm dead" as a funny way to refer dramatically to something that impacted you. So I use it to express that. - dramatically saying how you feel when you are in love! - " Link Spotify: https://open.spotify.com/track/1x3Brda5yyNuP71Rf2TT98?si=jhzWbP_WSW-vANG8fGzcKA Link Youtube: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kJ_L6gUtEKo 05 - What about your last release? "What About You"? " This one was my third step, first in music I had the vision, like what I wanted to say with my music, then with - You and I - I had the way I wanted to say, and - What About You - was responsible to give an image for that. Both of these songs I talk about love in our reality today, with social media, with festivals, our daily life filled with our insecurities but nothing can keep us away from falling in love. So I wanted to play with that with my own image, I know it sounds crazy (Laughs), but in the lyric video, I used colors to express the confusing emotions and different hair colors and looks to represent different styles. After all - What About You? - when you are falling in love? 06 - We notice an Asian cultural influence in some parts of your new image what can you tell us about that? " I was born in a country (Brazil) made by immigrants for all over the world, my own family it's a mix of cultures such as Italians, Germans, Portuguese, African and Brazilian Natives. So I naturally have a passion for new cultures and my geek side made me grew up on Mangás, Cartoons and video games. My sports side made me into climbing and Muay Thai, and my mom raised me with Chinese medicine. So it came naturally to me adding so many different cultures into my image. I love and respect them. "
07 - What would you say to your fans in Asia? " Oh I've been receiving a lot of messages from new fans from different parts in Asia and nothing makes me feel more grateful than to read those words and see how my songs are reaching every one of them. I want to say that: I see each one of you and you are very special to me! My Pirates! Thank you for the support and a lot of great things are coming this year!
