After six months waiting out the winter, Oliver Heldens and Heldeep Records have at last dropped the highly-anticipated fourth addition to the Heldeep DJ Tools EP series, just in time for festival season!
Hot off the release of a remix pack of his future-house hit “I Don’t Wanna Go Home,” the young protégé has compiled a hot collection of tracks from Heldeep veterans and new faces alike.
BROHUG kicks off the EP with their second release on the label, “Paparazzi,” a chopping, basshouse beat backed by vocals encouraging you to “Do it like you’re doin’ it for Snapchat”. BROHUG’s clean build leads into a sharp-sounding bass melody and transitions well into Vato Gonzalez’s onomatopoeic “Bassline Riddim."
The track stays true to its name, dropping a dirty bassline into a Riddim-type beat layered with a “rude boy” sample, popular in other bass tracks, including Dustycloud’s “MacMac.”
Vato Gonzalez’s sample utilization is entirely its own, however, carrying over almost the entirety of the melodic bassline and moving smoothly into the EP’s third track, Devoka and Wess’ Heldeep debut, “S.W.A.G.” The pair honor the song’s namesake, producing an oscillating-bass big-room sound bolstered by male and female vocals that bring clarity to the track.
Catch Oliver Heldens & Co. drop “Part 4” and much more at Electric Zoo, Lollapalooza Paris, Tommorowland and over ten other festivals this summer!
