A synonymous phrase within the entertainment world, as there are always unforeseen obstacles to overcome, however, losing your two main headliners in two completely unrelated incidents is most definitely a first for the Sensation Team.
Just weeks before the event the Organisers of Rise - Bangkok's first White Party in four years faced exactly that challenge when the news about Sam Feldt’s recent scooter accident caused him to cancel is performances due to a broken leg. Adding insult to the injury, Dash Berlin also had to call off all his performances in the pipeline around the globe due to his legal wranglings with former Band members and previous management.
However, not to be defeated, the collaborative efforts of the organisers and the love within the industry itself mean that the show will not only go on as planned but it will be taking the ravers on a journey to another level with an added hour to the night's proceedings.
With the added time comes the introduction of another performance, as not two but four DJ’s take to the decks to replace the unfortunate loss of the two headliners - a local favourite Headhunters is one of the four, with duo Matisse & Sadko in a single set and Dirtcaps to add a bit of shazang in the mix - it is hard to decide who out of this awesome foursome are the actual replacements and it certain that the night will be a memorable one regardless of the missfortune.
After all, the transformation of the venue with the unspeakable light show, barrage of sound from the epic array of the boomboxes plus the core ideologies of the event itself is enough to get most party peeps scrambling for a ticket - “RISE stands for breaking free from the worries and boundaries of daily life, letting go and rising above yourself to find the ultimate euphoria. This show embodies the message of freedom and rebirth. It is an exciting and exhilarating quest that visitors will discover with thousands of like-minded souls.
Together, we will unite in white and synchronize our hearts to the rhythm of the music.” - for a chance to absorb all that on a night out. It is an added perk, of course, to get up close and personal with some of your favourite talents in the game.
With just a week and a bit to spare before Bangkok becomes home to the world’s largest indoor rave, we here can’t even contain our excitement and hope that you will come and join the buzz with your fellow muso cuz (British slang word for cousin).
Sander van Doorn's Purple Haze project has been one of the most exciting new chapters in electronic music in recent times, with a slew of hot singles, a superb debut album and epic live shows stunning the world. He returns to his moniker here for another big new track that's ready to rock festivals the world over.
Listen to Purple Haze – Call Me
Once again channeling the sounds of classic '90s trance but firing it right up to date with a tough attitude and cutting-edge production, Sander van Doorn has created another monster. Epic choir chants filter up from depths before a heady male vocal adds an even more epic touch. A bubbling synth arp cuts through, readying us for the shimmering, widescreen main riff. There's no mega-build before the drop, with a less-is-more approach chosen instead and a bigger impact created as a big result. Driving arpeggiated bass underpins the big claps and crescendo of melody in fine style.
You can catch Sander's Purple Haze shows at City Fest in Prague (July 14), Hï Ibiza (August 8), Electronic Family in Poland (August 14) and Future Sound Of Egypt in Manchester (September 29). That's not to mention SVD sets at Tomorrowland, Creamfields, Mysteryland, Parookaville and more.

With over 1 million votes cast each year from 179 countries, the Top 100 DJs is the definitive annual guide to the world's most popular DJs and is a living symbol of the strength of the global electronic music scene.
This year marks the 25th anniversary of the Top 100 DJs poll. As part of this landmark year, we'll be releasing exclusive historical content throughout the voting period to commemorate the anniversary.
Across its 24 previous winners the Top 100 DJs Poll has spanned the length and breadth of the electronic music sphere, from Carl Cox to Tiësto to David Guetta and Martin Garrix, proving that the poll is representative of the growth - or decline - of dance music scenes, reflecting the ebb and flow of genres as new sounds and scenes take hold and spread. For a second consecutive year UNICEF, the global children’s organisation, is the official charity beneficiary of Top 100 DJs.
UNICEF works in over 190 countries around the world to keep children healthy, happy and safe. The Top 100 DJs poll has always had charity beneficiaries, however 2017 was a major escalation that saw the charity partner elevated to headline status.
The partnership raised in excess of £30,000, including a personal donation of £10,000 by DJ Mag.
In 2018 and partnering for a second year with UNICEF, the ambitions for the campaign are to exceed £50,000 in donations to further support the incredible and on-going work undertaken by UNICEF and help build a better world for children.
You can win a ultimate VIP Top 100 DJs experience by entering the UNICEF charity prize draw via djmag.com/top100djsvip.
The results will be announced on 21st October during a special awards ceremony at Amsterdam Music Festival (AMF) in front of 35,000 fans, during the world-renowned Amsterdam Dance Event (ADE). In 2017 4 million people tuned in to watch Martin Garrix be crowned The World’s No.1 DJ for a second time.
On the night, fans will also be able to follow the announcement of the Top 100 DJs Results across DJ Mag's digital and social channels, culminating with the unveiling of The World’s No.1 DJ. The print magazine will then issue the Top 100 DJs edition on 25th October, featuring interviews with all Top 100 DJs entries in the poll.
