Daft Punk's Comeback to The Grammy's

31/1/2017

Picture
Dance music's most renowned robots are making their return to the stage. The Recording Academy announced today that Daft Punk will join Canadian crooner The Weeknd at the 59th Annual Grammy Awards.

Daft Punk recently collaborated with The Weeknd for two tracks on the singer's third studio album Starboy: The title track and the 18th and final song to appear on the album, "I Feel It Coming." The first single "Starboy" arrived on September 22, 2016 to critical acclaim, debuting at number one on the Billboard 200.

Both collaborations, however, came after the 2017 Grammy deadline, which means Daft Punk will not be competing for any awards this year. The Parisian duo's appearance will mark the first since the 2013 Grammys, when they took home several awards for their album Random Access Memories.

Hosted by James Corden, this year's Grammy ceremony will also feature collaborative performances from A Tribe Called Quest, Anderson .Paak and Dave Grohl, as well as Alicia Keys and Maren Morris. Also performing live are John Legend, Adele, Metallica, Bruno Mars, Carrie Underwood and Keith Urban.

Don't miss Daft Punk's performance with The Weeknd at the 2017 Grammy Awards, which will broadcast live on CBS February 12th at 8 PM EST from the Staples Center in Los Angeles.

EDC Japan 2017 Confirmed!

Picture
This is EDC Japan's second launch attempt, after the event's original appearance for July 2016 was post-poned to ensure that attendees enjoyed "the best experience possible”. So far it looks like things are full steam ahead for Insomniac's latest branch of the popular EDC brand.

From Saturday, April 29, through Sunday, April 30, 2017, the inaugural EDC Japan is taking over the ZOZO Marine Stadium and Makuhari Beach Park in Tokyo for two days of thrill-inducing rides, funky fresh performers, larger-than-life production, and super-bloomin’ beats to create a one-of-a-kind, multisensory festival experience.

The debut of EDC Japan will also introduce fans to the iconic kineticCATHEDRAL stage, a majestic structure that premiered at EDC Las Vegas 2014 and has toured across New York, Orlando, UK, Brazil, Mexico and India. A reimagined version of the stage will captivate crowds as it comes alive with hundreds of lights, colorful flames, and two grand owls flanking the beautiful stained glass design.

Jack Ü is splitting up!

29/1/2017

Picture
After many days of speculation, it can finally be confirmed that Jack Ü will indeed be taking an indefinite break.  Rumours about a feud between Skrillex and Diplo have been spreading like wildfire and this week, Diplo has confirmed that the pair are not going to be releasing anything new.

In an interview with Beats 1's Zane Lowe, Diplo revealed that he is focusing on Major Lazer more now and will not be releasing the tracks that he has prepared with Skrillex. He is vague but telling in his interview, stating that he wore himself thin and this year he wants to focus on Major Lazer. He confirmed that while there are a lot of records Diplo and Skrillex have written together, they have no intention to release them for public consumption.

It is a sad day for the EDM industry, as these two heavyweights are no longer collaborating to produce solid party tracks. Maybe they'll make up, maybe they'll make better music on their own. Nobody knows and only time will tell.

Porter Robinson Disavows All But 11 of His Songs in Spotify Playlist Tweets

Picture
Porter Robin’s caused a bit of confusion on Tuesday (Jan. 24) when Spotify published a curated playlist called “This Is: Porter Robinson” and he responded with a tweet declaring that all other songs in his catalog are “unofficial.”

At first, fans thought that he tweet stating that “i've been making music for 12 years and i only wrote 11 songs, wow” was a sarcastic response to Spotify including only 11 songs from his extensive catalog.
Picture
He took a Snapchat to clarify his reaction, saying that: “don’t wanna bump that thread on twitter but because people are misunderstanding it: i am literally saying those are the only songs that i stand by. i was not being sarcastic. that was a playlist that i made to showcase the music that i feel proud of. it was not sarcasm. that tweet was 100% unprovoked by anything specific. just wanted to let you know how i feel!”
