Shafiq Razak is no ordinary gentleman, perhaps a gentleman with a pair of
wolves fang going by the name Shavraz - a young and wild go-to DJ that has
been partying with people in private parties since 2013. Stage name Shavraz
acts when he’s a lone wolf but acts with a different stage name with
‘SMAXWELL’ doing only duos with various partners such as the likes of Danny
LC and his brother ARSH.
He then steps up the game when offered to make his debut in the music
industry at Versus 6th Club, Kuala Lumpur. The very first gig that excites
him and changes his life. Although he spins a lot of genres, he mainly
plays Trance Vocal which fits his style superbly.
Slowly but surely, Shavraz steps up the ladder throwing the dice and
busting up speakers here and there. This 23 year-old Kelantanese born DJ
has what it takes to keep the crowd going wild and taking a big bite out of
them. One of his noticeable achievement is being in the Top 10 of the
Knight of Sound Contest last November 2016.
Shavraz passion continues to grow each and every day, expanding and
manipulating into new emotions that he brings to the DJ booth. That new
emotion then transfers into the venue into one of the elements
He also launched his first podcast ‘Empire of Trance-001 by Palie which is
available on Soundcloud, Mixcloud and Facebook.

Veteran Malaysian spinner, DJ Kuma is expanding his horizon with his upcoming production, Kamagra which is set to release on Shibiza Recordings. When asked about the reason behind the name Kamagra, he related the meaning – something that provides strength and energy – to the sound of his techno record, which is strong and dark.
DJ Kuma, who hails from Seremban, is thankful to be able to fly the Malaysian flag around South-East Asia, Asia and Europe. Having played at some of the world’s top clubs such as Womb (Tokyo) and Pacha (Macau), DJ Kuma is proud to be one of the few out there who play professionally.
It hasn’t always been easy for DJ Kuma.
“It has never been easy me doing it all by myself, without any huge club brand behind me or endorsed by anyone. I had to do everything by myself; it’s a one-man-show from designs of flyers to the endless self-promotion for my gigs, sending hundreds of e-mails to clubs and promoters, writing to labels and other music related work that takes up all my time just working towards the next gig,” he recalls.
The Kuala Lumpur-based DJ started off by playing at small bars throughout the Klang Valley and other states. His first major residency was at Qbar, Sunway Pyramid in 2003 where he was privileged to open for events such as Gatecrasher and Slinky. Following his gig at Qbar, Kuma landed the opportunity to work with the late Ronnie Choong, whom Kuma remembers as one of the best people in Kuala Lumpur’s nightlife and entertainment scene. Kuma was presented with numerous opportunities to be the resident DJ of some of the city’s finest clubs, owned by Choong.
DJ Kuma has been in the scene since the late 1990s, and has even co-founded an underground institution, Quinte, to coach upcoming young DJs. The institution ran from 2010 until early 2016.
“For me, dance music in general has always been healthy in Kuala Lumpur, but the whole DJing scene has boomed massively in recent years. Back then there were only two handfuls of DJs, maybe a little more. Then all of a sudden, DJ schools popped up everywhere; everyone wanted to learn or get into DJing simply because it was cool, like a new fashion.”
Kuma already has an exciting 2017 lined up, as he will be playing a few shows in US, as well as Mexico for the world-famous BPM festival.
Catch DJ Kuma at Le Noir, TREC, where he is the current resident DJ.
