7/8/2018

Dutch DJ and producers The Him and Jordan Jay release their new single, making sure you never want to leave their side. It’s a straight up musical pleasure for the ear, with its uplifting piano chords, energetic beat and joyful soul vocal. A perfect tune to turn any occasion into a happy one. Get ready to smile and dance on ‘By Your Side’, out now on Spinnin’ Records.

‘By Your Side’ is the follow up single to The Him’s recently released ‘Broken Love’. It’s their first time collabing with fellow Dutchman Jordan Jay. “It was so much fun working with Jordan Jay in the studio. You never know what the outcome is when you start working together. This collab worked out really well and we are so happy with the result!”, Steven from The Him explains. Jeroen continues: “We feel that this track represents both our styles and it works great live. We played it on Tomorrowland and the crowd went NUTS!”.

“’By You Side’ consists of an old-school vocal combined with a fresh 2018 future house sound.”, Jordan Jay explains. For him ‘By Your Side’ is his newest release after ‘Treat You Right’ earlier this year. He continues: “The first time I met The Him was backstage at Ultra Music Festival in Miami. We met up because The Him really liked my remix for Zedd’s ‘The Middle’. After this I sent them some music which they liked and eventually we did a studio session together. I had this project with a vocal from an old Z.Z. Hill track. They really liked it and we started working on this tune. This is what became ‘By Your Side’.”

The Him
Jeroen Kerstens and Steven berghuijs have been paving their way towards international success since the start of The Him back in 2015. Whether it be crafting infectious melodies with their transcendent originals and innovative remixes or their electrifying crowds with their energetic sets, the duo are the international dance force to be reckoned with. Today the day they can include a numerous of official remixes for the likes of A-list talents such as The Chainsmokers, Miike Snow and Miley Cyrus and a string of succesfull originals like ‘Feels Like Home’, ‘Don’t Leave Without Me’, ‘I Wonder’, ‘Always’ and most recently ‘Broken Love’ (feat. Parson James) to their name. Their hard work and talent has not been unnoticed, as Disruptor Management soon had them on their radar and signed them to their roster, as well as Spinnin’ Records. The Him’s touring history has played an integral role in their rise and is equally impressive as their music achievements; from supporting Galantis accross the U.S. to playing alongside some of the world’s greatest DJs including Tiësto, Martin Garrix, Kygo, The Chainsmokers. This summer they are playing at some of the biggest festivals such as Tomorrowland, Lollapalooza and Sizget to name a few.

Jordan Jay
Jordan Jay – real name Jordi Coenradie - is a Dutch dance producer and DJ. His passion for music was ignited at the early age of 15. He initially started producing dubstep and drum and bass, but later found out his passion lies with house music, and that is where his heart still is to this day. After his first official release ‘Haze’ with Charlie Ray in 2016, which was supported by industry heavy weights Martin Garrix, Nicky Romero, David Guetta and more, he continued his musical journey in 2017 with an innovated sound. Other tracks from Jordan Jay are ‘Black’, his huge collaboration with Holl & Rush ‘Another Day’, and the most recently released ‘Treat You Right’, which received write-ups from Dancing Astronaut, DJ Mag and more respectable blogs and was supported by Tiësto, Martin Garrix, Lucas & Steve and many more.
THE HIM interview

Your recent release, “By your side ” already has fans craving more. Could you both explain what led you to creating this new song?

We've been playing some of Jordan Jay's remixes in our sets for a while and when we recently met at Ultra in Miami we decided we had to jump in the studio together. Jordan had found this old vocal sample and we started on it together in our studio in Amsterdam.

How has it been working together?

It was really great. Jordan Jay is such a talented producer and he knows exactly what he is doing. He has a different sound then we do so it was a lot of fun to see how he approached things and find a way to make it work with our sound.

Dutch DJs have influenced in the music scene very much. We start Wondering if culture or education in Dutch may effects on your music. What do you think?

They put something in the water back over here haha. Nah just kidding! We grew up with dance music and got inspired by it and decided to give it a try. We never thought we would come this far). It probably also helps that the weather is bad most of the year so you don't feel bad when you sit in the studio all day.

What inspires you most to make a new track and gets you into the studio?

We love good songs. We almost always start with a cool vocal and then build the production around it. It's just so great when it all comes together and a track works. We love it!

What were some of your biggest inspirations when you were first starting?

Steven: Tiesto & Armin van Buuren for sure!
Jeroen: Calvin Harris and Deadmau5

What were the best gigs you ever played and what were the funniest.

Tomorrowland, Lollapalooza and the funniest one is definitly when all connecting flights from a show got canceled due to the snow. We took an uber for 6 hours and made it on time for the show!

Things that occurred during your performances?

Steven: I'm always so nervous that I need to do a pee pee 5 minutes before the show.
Jeroen: ate a pizza during the set without anyone knowing

What is the one thing you always bring on tour with you?

Steven: My stones! Mom told me that it would give me some extra power and good for sleeping. Told her already "what ever works mam" haha.
Jeroen: Sweatpants, need to be comfy on those long flights.

From producers’ standpoint, how do you feel about the progression of EDM.

We think it's coming back again. People will shift back from all that pop stuff and make great club & festival music once again ?

Where do you see yourselves and your music in the next five years?

Playing mainstages all around the world and releasing great music!

Anything you want to say to your malaysian fans?

We can't wait to see you in Malaysia!! Much love Jeroen&Steven

 INTERVIEW – Jordan Jay

Your recent release, “By your side ”  already has fans craving more.
Could you both explain what led you to creating this new song?

Shortly after we met at Ultra Miami we spoke about doing something together. After a couple months we did a studio session for which I had prepared some ideas. One of them was an early version of By Your Side.

How has it been working  together?

It was really great! These guys have is so good. Really loved working with them and hope to work more with them in the future :)

Dutch DJs have influenced in the music scene very much. We start
wondering if culture or education in Dutch may effects on your music.
What do you think?

I personally haven't had any music classes in highschool or preschool. There's a big dance culture in the Netherlands though!

What inspires you most to make a new track and gets you into the studio?

I just love creating and being creative! That feeling when thousands of people go wild on a piece that you've created in the studio is just phenomenal!

What were some of your biggest inspirations when you were first
starting?

Axwell/Swedish House Mafia and Don Diablo

What were the best  gigs you ever played and what were the funniest
things that occurred during your performances?

I loved playing in 013 a little while back. It was a big student party which I played B2B with my buddy Charlie Ray.

What is the one thing you always bring on tour with you?

Nothing out of the ordinary! Just a backpack with my USB's, headphones and laptop!

From producers’ standpoint, how do you feel about the progression of EDM

I feel like it's always shifting. I like that every time you think everything has been done, something new emerges!

Where do you see yourselves and your music in the next five years?

Releasing on big labels, touring all over the world!

Anything you want to say to your malaysian fans?

Huge thank you for all the love and support! ❤
