FOOD FOR THOUGHT

Picture
Here's a caption to ponder upon, by two of our Malaysian duo, ZenNeuro. Consist of Big Mike and DEV said that :-

"Malaysian DJs are consistently overlooked in the international scene whereas India's killing it with their talents and artists. Is it because we lack the quality? Or is it the constant scrutiny other artists face from one another? New ideas are actively shut down by oppressing figures in the industry followed by criticisms that aren't even constructive but rather more of an ego boost really. This defeats the purpose of what got most of us in the industry in the first place.
Art has lost its meaning.

With time and effort, lets change that."

There is nothing lacking with Malaysian talents, we have abundant of talents as we are growing in terms of skills, and experience to where we are heading towards. With the existence of the Internet, everything can be done with just initiative and the heart of not giving up. What is lacking here in our scene is that the support towards one another and also the quality of one person claims themselves a "DJ" having that ego of proclaiming themselves "on top of the world" or "the best of the best". Then again, looking and comparing ourselves with the International DJs, we are nothing less than them as we gain knowledge and of course, we are all human, to have inspiration and idol does plays a part in every artist, but what makes them different is that the attitude towards their pierce of the same scene. To be supportive of one another, to grow together and to have a healthy relationship amongst listeners.

Being in the music scene of course trying to be different than others that what makes one stand out than the other, but putting down one's form of art is discouraging for one to be growing. As simple as this may seem, but the hardest to penetrate our Malaysian people is that the new comers should learn and take up positive encouragements and to not give up in whatever they may compose. As for the "old timers" who have already make their name, it is best to be humble, be acceptive of the differences of others and as everyday is a new day, same goes to the music industry, everyday is new music for them listeners.
